Mostafa Swilam is an Asset Integrity Engineer with over 16 years of hands-on experience in oil and gas operations, spanning corrosion engineering, inspection, pipeline integrity, and risk-based inspection.
He currently serves as Asset Integrity Team Lead at Khalda Petroleum Company, an Apache Corporation joint venture. He leads the team implementing RBI across seven operating locations, and directs the pipeline integrity programme, including an in-line inspection plan covering 70 strategic pipelines. His work runs from tool selection and vendor data review through anomaly interpretation to the fitness-for-service and repair decisions that follow.
Mostafa also owns corrosion mitigation and monitoring experience for the field, reviews cathodic protection and coating systems, and identifies damage mechanisms in static equipment. He led a task force that resolved recurring flowline leaks caused by internal corrosion, reducing leak frequency by 37 percent over three years. He established the company's corrosion management system document and the KPIs that track it, and developed the technical scopes for its in-line inspection, hot work repair, and composite repair works.
As an instructor, Mostafa teaches from live programmes rather than from a syllabus. Delegates work with real in-line inspection reports, populated RBI worksheets and fitness-for-service calculations on actual defect geometry. He has delivered corrosion management and control courses for Dar Petroleum Operating Company in South Sudan, repeated over two months for 79 engineers and technicians, and has provided risk-based inspection training to Saudi Aramco teams.
He holds a BSc in Metallurgy Engineering from Cairo University and is certified to API 580, API 570, and AMPP Senior Internal Corrosion Technologist level. He delivers in English and Arabic.
